Specialized Collections

Archives - The University Archives is the central repository for the collecting, arranging, describing, and preserving of material that documents the history of StFX and its chancellor, faculty, staff, and alumni.

At Your Leisure Collection - The "At Your Leisure" Collection is a collaboration between the Angus L. Macdonald Library and the Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library (PARL) to promote leisure reading within the StFX community.

Coady/Extension Story - Masters of Their Own Destiny: The Coady Story in Canada and Across the World is a portal to the history and a window on the present day of the Antigonish Movement, the StFX Extension Department and the Coady International Institute.

ESL Collection - The Library has a small collection of books and audio-visual tools to assist those who wish to improve their English as a Second Language (ESL) skills. The collection includes dictionaries, grammar and vocabulary builders, practice tests for TOEFL, TESL, and IELTS, specialized materials for Nursing, Business and the Sciences, and a selection of easy readers.

Fr. Brewer Celtic Collection / Cruinneachadh Ceilteach An Urramaich Maighstir Charles Brewer - The Celtic Collection represents the heritage and culture of the founders of the university. It is the largest of its kind in Canada, and one of the most significant in North America.

Gael Stream / Sruth nan Gaiheal (Pre-release content only) - Gael Steam / Sruth nan Gaidheal is a comprehensive digital resource of material relating predominantly to Nova Scotias living Gaelic tradition.

Government Documents - This is a guide to the government documents collected by the StFX Library, to those online available to our users, and to related services provided by our Government Documents Coordinator.

Music / Audio / Visual / Microform Room - The Music/AV/Microform Room contains our audio and visual recordings, as well as our microform collection of newspapers and journals.

New Books - View the latest books to be added to our collection, updated monthly.  Also, view all new books by department purchased within the last year.

Newspapers - View a mix of current and historical editions from local, national and international publications.

NNELS (National Network for Equitable Library Service) - NNELS is an online public library of books, owned and sustained by Canadian public libraries, for people with print disabilities.
 
StFX Digital Collections (currently unavailable) - The StFX Digital Collections provide access to a rich cache of primary and secondary research resources in the StFX Library. Th includes documents that encompass descriptions & histories, both past and present, of StFX, the local communities and the region.
 
StFX Scholar - StFX Scholar provides access to the publications and contributions of StFX faculty and students. The database consists of books, book chapters, articles, essays, and other research outputs. Publications are accepted from all departments and across all languages and subjects as determined by the research activities of StFX Faculty.
