RefWorks Downtime - May 9th, 2020

Please see the announcement from RefWorks regarding planned downtime for Saturday May 9th below.

Dear RefWorks Community,

To allow RefWorks to more fully leverage the security, scalability, and support of the Ex Libris Cloud infrastructure, we are continuing our activity from February to move the RefWorks data center to a new server. The required work began in December and will be completed in May.

*Accessing Library Resources*

Effective immediately, the library will be closed until further notice.  We will strive to maintain as many services as possible.  Reference librarians will be available to help you with your research by making an online appointment. For all the latest information, please view this LibGuide which outlines our available services and how we can help you during this uncertain time.  Please note this LibGuide is still in development and content will be continually updated.

*Notice* RefWorks Service Interruption

Please be advised that RefWorks and its associated programs will be unavailable for a few hours on Saturday, March 21st.  For completed details, see the message from the service provider below:

Dear RefWorks Community,

As another step allowing RefWorks to more fully leverage the security, scalability, and support of the Ex Libris Cloud infrastructure, we are upgrading the (new) RefWorks database.

Upddate - Digital Collections Access

Since the hack of the University’s systems and subsequent shutdown of our local servers in November of 2018, library staff have been working to restore access to our digital collections (yearbooks, StFX publications, theses, etc.) as quickly as possible.  We would like to advise the campus community and patrons that the migration of these collections to a more secure and stable host continues.

Off-Campus Google Scholar Access

Please be advised that Google Scholar is not working for off-campus users when accessed via the the Angus L. MacDonald Library website.  Off-campus users will not see the “Check for full text @ X” link, however, those affected can still use Google Scholar by logging into your personal google account and setting St. Francis Xavier University as your library.
