Your role in Cyber Security

You play a critical role in the defense against malware and phishing emails.

During the past few weeks, StFX has been targeted with a higher than normal volume of spam and phishing email. These messages contain fake notices regarding account closures/upgrades, package/file delivery, order status or financial transactions. Most messages contain an attachment with an infected file or a link to a malicious website and many are crafted to look like official StFX notices.

Copyright Infringement Notices - What You Need to Know

Under a provision of the Canadian Copyright Act, if you use the StFX network to download content (e.g., books, images, music, movies, or TV shows) which may have been illegally posted to the Internet, it is possible that you could receive a copyright infringement notice related to this activity.

NETWORK SERVICE INTERRUPTION THURSDAY AUGUST 31

IT Services will be performing required network maintenance between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM on Thursday August 31st. During this time period there will be disruptions to network services on campus

IT SERVICES WEBSITE AND CLIENT PORTAL LAUNCH

IT Services is excited to be launching our new Website and along with it a Client Portal for our new request tracking system, TeamDynamix on August 22nd.  The Client Portal will provide the campus community with a single, accessible location that allows students, faculty, and staff to:

•   Submit new requests for services and support. Requesting help though the Service Catalog will ensure your ticket is properly categorized and will be routed to the appropriate resource faster than sending an email to IT Services that needs to endure triage and dispatching.

MyPassword Service Update

As announced this Spring, StFX is rolling out a new password manager tool on Monday July 24th.   This password manager service was selected for its integration with our current systems, particularly Office 365.  There will now be a single password reset tool for all StFX (webfx) accounts.
