The following bursaries are available to apply for by special application.
Please note these bursaries require a separate, special application form to be completed. Completing the online fall or winter application forms for the StFX Limited Bursary program will not qualify students for consideration as a candidate for any of these bursary.
Allard Tobin Travel Award
Allard Tobin graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in the early 1960’s and hailed from Bras D’Or, Cape Breton. Mr. Tobin had an interest in the performing arts and while at StFX sang in the choir and performed in plays. Right after he graduated, still not sure what he wanted to do with his life, he had an unexpected opportunity to travel to Europe. There he met like-minded individuals and embarked on a very successful career in theatre, film, dance and costume design. Mr. Tobin divided his time between the UK, France and Australia and became a true citizen of the world and a respected member of the international arts community. This fund has been established in his name to provide the same opportunity to a graduating student from Cape Breton to travel to Europe following their graduation from StFX. Applicants must be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Music degree in May 2021 to be eligible.
Award Value: up to $9000
This award will be paid to a full or part time undergraduate student of StFX who has demonstrated financial need. The student must be a self-identified African Nova Scotian. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay describing how they demonstrated community leadership or intend to use their university degree to be a leader in their local community.

This bursary is available to students who have completed the prerequisites for and are currently enrolled in the ESCI 476: Advanced Geological Field Methods course at StFX. Applicants must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program and demonstrate financial need in their application.
Award Value: will vary based on the expected costs of the ESCI 476 trip each year
This award will be paid to a full time undergraduate student of StFX who has demonstrated financial need. The student must self-identify as African Canadian. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay outlining his/her/their involvement in the community and how they are making a difference.

Scots' College Fund of Canada
This award is available to full-time students of Catholic Highland Scottish descent who are preparing for the priesthood or who have been active in another form of ministry in the Catholic Church. Recipients are required to include courses in theology and/or philosophy in their program of studies.

This award is for women in full-time studies at St. Francis Xavier University in the fields of Religious or Catholic Studies (minor, major or honours) requiring financial assistance. The student must have good academic standing and show potential in the areas of responsibility, leadership, and commitment to community by way of having a desire to make a positive contribution to society. In keeping with the spirit of the Sisters of St. Martha, this student would exemplify commitment to be about the development of persons. Please provide a short explanation of your financial situation, including other bursaries or scholarships, courses of study, and aspirations for the future including a list of courses you plan to take next term, and a list of extracurricular activities. Summarize in a few paragraphs why you are a suitable candidate for this Bursary. Please include an academic transcript.
This bursary is available to full-time students who demonstrate financial need. The recipient must be a hard working student who is registered in the BSC in Nursing program (4-year or accelerated) at StFX entering their second, third or fourth year and have achieved a minimum average of 70% during his or her previous year of study.
Award Value: up to $1000
This award is available to part-time and full-time students who have a child (children) enrolled in the On-Campus Day Care Program for the full academic year and have demonstrated financial need. The bursary will be awarded in two installments, once per term, and paid directly to the daycare. If academic enrollment of the student or day care registration of the child ceases in the second term the student will forfeit their second installment.
