A Better Tomorrow Starts Today
The Better Tomorrow Plan actively promotes the protection and restoration of our environment, supports our local communities and promotes health and wellness.  These three priorities are backed up by 14 commitments, one journey forward covering 80 countries, 33,900 sites and engagement of our 380,000 employees.

Sustainable Seafood Policy
Our Sustainable Seafood Policy is a key part of our commitment to eliminating all "At Risk" species from our menus by December 2011 and 100% of all contracted seafood sustainably sourced by 2015.

Since 2012, Sodexo has partnered with Vancouver Aquarium's Ocean Wise Program, further enhancing its commitment to sustainable seafood to clients across Canada.

Sustainable Coffee Partnerships
Sodexo at St.FX is proud to be partnered with companies that have made strong commitmentments to sustainable, fair-trade coffee.

Starbucks: Starbucks is committed to sustainable coffee farming, purchasing certified organic shade grown and Fair Trade Certified coffee and building mutually beneficial relationships with small-scale farming cooperatives.

Aspretto: Sodexo's Aspretty concept is a premium coffee that is our answer to the market's call for a sustainable, green product. It is fair-trade purchased and trans-fair certified. Everything that touches the product is "green".

Full Steam Coffee Company: Fair trade is an important part of the Full Steam Coffee Company vision. With each bag of coffee sold, people are not only supporting Fairtrade certified coffee producers from around the world, they're supporting workers in a region of Canada hard hit by the decline of traditional industries. The protection of our environment is important the Full Steam Coffee Company, that's why every bag of coffee is certified organic by Pro-Cert.

Just Us!: Just Us! began in 1995 and is Canada’s first fair trade coffee roaster. They believe that business is a vehicle for change – people and our planet need not be exploited to make a profit. Just Us! offers high-quality fair trade, SPP (Small Producers Symbol) and organic certified coffee, tea, sugar and chocolate.

Balancing sustainability in partnership with St. FX

Sustainabiliy has become a focus for not only Sodexo but the Univeristy community as well.  We recognize that we have a responsibility to use our resources wisely and to protect them for future generations.  Natural materials, foods, packaging, proper farming and trade practices, and innovative recycling programs are just a few of our sustainable practices.

Here at St. FX and on campuses around the country, Sodexo is committed to developing and measuring ways to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, to conserve water, promote responsible waste management and reduce the use of toxic chemicals.

Bye-bye plastic - Hello Paper!  Did you know that we have eliminated the use of plastic bags for all take out items?  Look for recyclable paper bags at all our locations!  Trayless Dining in Morrison Hall saves 80,000 gallans of water a year!  Just Us is a local, fair trade coffee that we proudly serve and Aspretto, in Mini Moe's is a fair trade purchased and transfair certified product.  Everything that touches it is green, from the 10% PCF cups to the renewable resource stirrers, to the fair trade sugar wrapped in recyclable paper and printed with vegetable dye.

Sodexo Canada named one of Canada's Greenest Employers for the Fourth Consecutive Year!
On Earth Day 2014, Sodexo Canada was announced as one of Canada's Top Greenest Employers for the fourth consecutive year!  Sodexo Canada was selected for our brand of ethically-sourced coffee and tea, which donates to local non-profit organizations that fight hunger and malnutrition, our commitment to the Better Tomorrow Plan and for our commitment to source only sustainable fish and seafood.

The recognition from Mediacorp Canada is based on Sodexo's Better Tomorrow Plan, the company's formal roadmap to sustainability, which guides the company toward integrating sustainable business practices into day-to-day operations. The plan includes company-wide commitments to reducing the company's carbon footprint, water consumption, waste diversion and composting, and engaging its customers and suppliers to do the same.
