Modern sport was invented in the context and image of liberal democracy, which is itself an expression of the moral and theological universalism at the heart of the Judeo-Christian tradition. These moral, political and religious foundations are often ‘hidden’ within the social practices and the social institutions that constitute those opportunities for expression that are available to us all in our contemporary everyday lives.
Public Lecture in Schwartz 156. Dr. Robert Dennis, Chair of Catholic Studies, University of Prince Edward Island, and President of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association, will give a public lecture on Pope Francis. Dr. Dennis will discuss the current ecclesiastical, theological, and political contect in which Pope Francis guides the Church. StFX Athletics is hosting a ‘Night of Champions’ event on Thursday, December 1st at the StFX Oland Centre main gymnasium. The event, scheduled from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, will serve to recognize and honor the 2016 Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championship X-Men and X-Women teams from the fall season, along with the 2016 U Sports national champion X-Women rugby team.
